‘Life in positivity’ is a one hour long motivational talk. It was structured and coordinated by ‘El Mago More’, ‘More the magician’. More is one of the most famous speakers in Spain.
More attended a guided visit of one of my exhibitions. He placed his hands on his head and told me: “I really loved it!! It’s an amazing self-improvement story!! You have to share it, I will help you set it up”
On the stage, there is a very large object hidden beneath a sheet. I ask the audience to enjoy “Vorfreude” – the pleasure of waiting – promising to later discover the item at the end. The references that I make, increase the expectations.
Then, I go through the obstacles that have arisen in the pursuit of the project PhotoLeaves: to convince my plants to take on a photographic image on its leaf, only using chlorophyll and light from the sun.
We extract a lesson from every solution that is given to each problem, which will be useful in our day-to-day life. They are ten in total, and we will summarise them at the conclusion stage. All presented with plentiful humour, intriguing anecdotes, and engaging the audience throughout.
During the whole talk photographic vocabulary is used: focus, expose, frame, illuminate, and so forth.
I uncover the hidden object in the last five minutes of the talk and explain its meaning and how my partner and I have faced a very negative moment and we have applied the lessons for a positive outcome.
We conclude by taking instant photos with a Polaroid. Audience members typically are welcome on to the stage to admire the piece up close and capture photographs with it, all within a warm, relaxed, and convivial atmosphere.
The conference is presented in both English and Spanish.
‘Entrepreneur from Scratch’ is a conference aimed at novice entrepreneurs as well as those who already run businesses but need to update their skills.
The standard duration is one hour; it can be extended to three hours if required, or delivered as three one-hour sessions.
I present the fundamental concepts necessary to launch a business, which, surprisingly, many entrepreneurs and even established business owners are unaware of. These are illustrated with entertaining anecdotes drawn from my forty-year career. Indeed, although I hold a university degree, I began working at the age of thirteen.
The topics are examined from both conservative and avant-garde perspectives, and the audience is encouraged to participate and to weigh up a variety of viewpoints. Small-group discussions often give rise to highly creative spontaneous debates.
Technical vocabulary is kept to an absolute minimum and replaced by plain, everyday language that even those with no prior business training can readily understand, thereby creating a relaxed and participatory atmosphere.
